Intentional Living: one moon at a time Guide
The first New Moon of the year is January 29. New moons are a time of new beginnings.
Have you already set a goal for this year? And maybe given up on it by now.
Either way, you can build momentum on your goal or start fresh this new moon and each one moving forward this year and and I’m here to help.
Introducing the new and improved Intentional Living: One Moon at a Time Guide
Our lives include kids, partners, home management, and work schedules. It’s easy to go on auto-pilot and we forget to add activities that make us feel alive and well.
I’m on a mission to teach women how to use their body and its inner guidance system to live in greater alignment with our needs, wants, and desires. We can use our minds to help us as we aim to achieve that goal. One of my favorite tracking tools is the moon cycles.
My clients express the desire to make more time for themselves and it often starts with taking care of their body or quieting their mind. Biologically when we set a goal our body responds with excitement and enthusiasm - almost like we accomplished the goal already.
Out of the gate we take action, inspired and ready for a change.
Then after 4-6 weeks the momentum wanes and the real work begins - can you relate?
You have the opportunity to overcome obstacles and old patterns along the way but it’s hard without accountability and support. You end up feeling bad about yourself for not having enough willpower to follow through and this cycle can repeat.
After working with hundreds of clients for almost two decades, I’ve witnessed three important mistakes people make when setting intentions:
They skip setting short-term goals (and celebrating them) as stepping stones toward your long-term goals.
They resort to “what’s wrong with me” thinking instead of exploring what is working and considering maybe there is a better way of getting to the desired feeling they hope the goal will provide them.
The goal is set with our mind, shoulds, and external influences. For example, striving for an “ideal” body shape or other definitions of success instead of what our heart and soul truly desire.
I help clients get out of their heads and drop into their bodies and hearts so their goals align with what lights them up from the inside. When we work together, clients learn how to use their bodies as a guide for making decisions and choosing the next best step.
You have a built-in system to help you bring your goals and dreams to life when you follow the moon cycles and your body.
Each moon cycle is about 29 days - similar to a month. There are 12-13 moon cycles in a year which means lots of opportunities for you to seed intentions with each new moon. You can start fresh or build on the previous cycle each month.
Within each cycle, the energy waxes and wanes inviting you to reflect, plan, take action, wrap-up, assess, and rest. It’s genius and mimics the energy of the menstrual cycle phases.
Even though I’ve been doing this work for a while, it was the first full year that I tracked my cycle with every moon cycle while setting an intention at each new moon.
I’ve tracked my cycle and new moon intentions for years but it always was in my journal. Sometimes they’d get lost in the pages of writing and I wanted a quick reference where I could see my yearly and new moon intentions all in one place so I created one.

My word for 2024 was potent and rooted.
Since our son got PANDAS our lives have been turned upside down. There were many days I imagine myself as an oak tree growing roots into the Earth which helps me stay steady and grounded. Our schedule is inconsistent with doctor’s visits, treatments, and other stressors arising daily.
Having set these words gave me an anchor and helped me get super clear on my priorities. This helped me stay focused on continuing to do work I love and having the bandwidth to care for him and tend to family life.
Tracking new moon intentions that come from your soul works.
Most of my New Moon intentions were feeling states or ways of being like space, trust, joy, and levity.
I embodied potent and rooted and made decisions accordingly. I trusted myself and my mission even when it was challenging and outside of the box. I’m doing me and encouraging you to be you.
Examples of what was possible. We had the most wonderful cohort for the 200-hour yoga teacher training, my yoga retreat sold out and was the most amazing experience, I hosted my first yoga book club, and my Return to Your Core membership continued to grow. This all was possible with a kid being in and out of school with little childcare and the high emotions that come with having a child semi-mysterious diagnosis and raising a toddler. If I can do it, you can too.
